History

Originally established in the year 1994, the University of Amrita, or Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is private university in India, founded by Mata Amritanandamayi a humanitarian guru and spiritual leader whose long history of social work and promotion ultimately resulted in the need to establish an educational institution from which her ideals of gender equality and selfless service could be properly imparted and integrated into the young and society.

In the present day the institution continues to be managed by her international charity organization, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, and has made history in the nation, after obtaining it’s university status at a record time, and through it’s collaboration with international universities, including those of the Ivy league.

Admission requirements

Admission to the University of Amrita is based on 2 main aspects, first comes a student’s high-school certificate and results, which requires aggregate marks of at least 60% in Math, Physics and Chemistry, as well as a score of no less than 55% on each of those subjects.

And secondly a student’s results at either the JEE Mains examination or the AEEE (Amrita Entrance Exam) of the current year, these results will also affect how large of a scholarship a student can apply for.
